What is expected –Retail store Supervisor/Team Leader Main purpose of the position Assist and support the Store Manager in motivating and inspiring the team to achieve store productivity goals and being a team player. Be a brand ambassador, to protect the company’s assets, stock and give exceptional customer service. What How /Why My tasks • on time on a daily basis and start with tasks immediately • ensure service efficiencies • behaviour and best practice (world class, passion/morale and productivity) • Conduct Level 1 morning meetings - problem solving, ideas, working together effectively, teamwork, communication leading to improved overall store scores • adhere to the daily checklist (refer to App A and App B) • take accountability for my work and honour promises to customers • ensure service efficiencies with regular monitoring • provide coaching and guidance • must be fair, strict and consistent at all times • follow up to ensure that instructions given are implemented correctly • provide clear and regular feedback to staff on the results achieved • induction of staff ( Assist in explaining store layout and till procedures).first 2 weeks, assessment and continuously monitoring until probation/or earlier has been finalised) • conduct of Level 1 morning meetings - problem solving, ideas, working together effectively, teamwork, communication leading to improved overall store scores • maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures Reaching sales targets • reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion and escalate this to the Store manager • markets merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans • contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed • hitting sales targets and implementing the necessary to improve sales (up selling and cross selling) • strategies to improve sales • need to identify lost opportunities and escalate this to the Store manager immediately Stock control • ensure availability by ordering the right level of stock • ensure stock rotation • ensure the correct merchandising of stock • daily stock takes • count stock correctly and notify management if you are struggling • store stock takes on a three monthly basis • Overseeing stock rotation and sending expired sheets to Head Office every Tuesday Health and Safety, security, general maintenance and cleanliness of store • secure merchandise by following the necessary measures • protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment • if allocated to wear a panic button – do so at all times • ensure that all equipment in the store are fully operational at all times (this includes cleaning equipment), if not escalate to Store manager • follow standards for health and safety ( including food safety rules, policies and procedures) • cold chain must be protected at all times - frozen or fridge products must be stored immediately in the freezer or fridge (as per product storage instructions) upon receipt • treat all company property with care, follow all safety and care instructions during use and when cleaning it • clean as you go • pest control – monitor, minimise, control and eliminate the risks of pests • set standards for health and safety • management of cleaning (clean as you go) Innovation and change • act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance/quality • be proactive • plan and prepare for the change (all risks assessed and addressed before implementation) • once a change has been implemented – adhere and follow through • prepare and complete action plans for improved productivity and quality • identify and resolve problems • determine system improvements • new product development Reporting and record keeping • maintain an up to date and accessible record keeping system (myself and the team) • make sure that records are based on what actually happened, authentic, based on facts and not fabricated • feedback on reporting and queries from HO within 24 hours • Report any below costs as soon as it is noted • Ensuring that the void schedule procedure is followed as per company policy Productivity SA, HR and training • ensure all charts are up to date and correctly completed • new targets are implemented and updated • clear understanding of targets at all times- escalate to Store manager if additional training is required when new targets have been implemented • address training needs with HR/management (skills matrix) • ensure that I am familiar with SOPS and that I receive the necessary training should there be any changes • share knowledge with team members so that we can learn and grow together • increase my knowledge and skills General • flexibility in my work • implement lessons learnt from training given (received via mentoring, meetings, coaching, informal and formal training) • ad hoc duties as and when required • must be able to work under pressure and to react quickly to a problem • identify problems and resolving it quickly before it turns into a crisis • dealing with customer service issues such as queries and complaints • prioritising work load in order of urgency • maintain at all times business image and standards • answering of calls: • In a polite manner – CAB Foods Good morning… • always ask if you can put the customer on hold whilst you are dealing with the customer query – remember the customer can hear you • always thank the customer for their query • If you need to attend to a customer standing in front of you, try to avoid answering the phone, unless there nobody else able to attend to the call.
