Process: Operator
The Process Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and controlling processing equipment in accordance with approved SOPs to ensure efficient and consistent production. The role requires sound technical knowledge of processing equipment, quality requirements, and manufacturing processes, together with a strong focus on product quality and safety. The Process Operator monitors production performance, and maintains accurate process records. The position requires attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication. 1. Operate, Monitor and Control Plant Processes Operate processing equipment, including pasteurisers, homogenisers, separators, and other related plant equipment, in accordance with approved SOPs. Monitor and control plant processes to ensure optimal production performance. Ensure required production yields and throughput targets are achieved. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce operating costs. Accurately record key production variables, including production volumes, yields, plant start-up and downtime, utility consumption, and other relevant process information. Participate in plant cleaning programmes and procedures to maintain required hygiene and cleanliness standards. Monitor the usage, availability, and inventory of process chemicals and production supplies. 2. Quality Assurance Ensure the integrity and quality of raw materials and finished products throughout the processing cycle. Work closely with the Laboratory and Quality Assurance teams to support the effective implementation of quality policies and procedures. Collect and test process samples in accordance with approved Quality Assurance programmes and procedures. Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records. Understand and interpret quality results and take appropriate corrective action when required. Escalate quality deviations or concerns promptly to the relevant responsible person. 3. Plant Maintenance and Safety Report equipment faults, breakdowns, and operational concerns to the Maintenance Department. Perform preventative maintenance activities within the scope of the role. Assist with the identification, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of equipment and process-related issues. Operate equipment safely and in accordance with prescribed safety procedures. Comply with all applicable health, safety, hygiene, environmental, and company requirements.
