PRE-PREPARATORY HEAD OF SPORT 2027 St John’s College is a world-class Anglican School situated on a magnificent campus in Houghton, Johannesburg, offering quality education from Pre-Primary to Post-Matric. We are seeking to appoint a Head of Sport to manage and oversee co-curricular sporting provision across the Pre-Preparatory and Bridge Nursery school, overseeing the main areas of sports events, extra-curricular sports provision, facilities and resources and budget management. You will be an ambassador for early years and be able to work with other management colleagues in developing the teaching of exercise, skills, sportsmanship, health, and wellbeing from Grade 0000 to Grade two. Main Responsibilities: Plan, develop and deliver learning programmes across the curriculum for the different year groups Ensure planned programmes demonstrate progression of gross motor and sports skills and knowledge Assess, record and report attainment and progress holistically Ensure inclusion of all students in appropriate sports, games and other activities; ensuring that any activities are suitable for the age, physical and emotional maturiy, experience and ability of the participants Coordinate and support activities with classroom-based colleagues including teachers and teaching assistants Plan and organise events i.e. Sports day, interhouse fixtures and external team fixtures Support with the coordination of after school clubs programme (extra murals) Supervise colleagues, external coaches, volunteers and others in the delivery of sporting activities Escort and supervise pupils on sports fixtures and events Requirements: A strong academic background, with teaching qualification and sport experience Be registered with SACE Previous experience coaching and overseeing a sports programme in a school Experience with gross motor and other appropriate skills for Grades 0000 to 2 Experience of leading and managing Highly successful teaching/coaching experience over a sustained period with the age group.
