Brief Description: Requirements for Lecturer in Coal Mining: Minimum requirements: Applicants must be qualified mining engineers with experience in coal mining, both underground and surface mining. Applicants must also hold at least a Master’s degree in mining engineering, with at least 50% of credits in research, and be eligible to enrol in the School’s doctoral programme. Advantages include: A doctoral degree in mining engineering; registration as a candidate or professional engineer, or eligibility for professional registration; teaching experience at university level; research experience evidenced by an NRF rating, supervision and/or co-supervision of postgraduate research students, peer-reviewed publications, and local and/or international research collaborations; and evidence of academic citizenship and service. Duties: Conducting personal research and innovation (including doctoral studies if not yet a doctoral graduate); lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; supervising and/or co-supervising postgraduate students; and participating in the school's administrative activities.
