Join the Team: Procurement Specialist

Dragonfly Aerospace is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our team in Stellenbosch. In this role, you will drive end-to-end material management for specialized, low-volume production. This role bridges suppliers and the shop floor by balancing procurement, inventory planning, and ERP data integrity with high precision. The Procurement Specialist Role The role will own the end-to-end lifecycle of our production materials. This role is less about high-speed repetitive tasks and more about absolute precision, data integrity, and coordination. The Procurement Specialist acts as a bridge between our suppliers and our production floor, wearing multiple hats across procurement, inventory planning, and ERP data management. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Buyer Operations End-to-End Sourcing: Manage the purchasing lifecycle for highly specialized components, from initial RFQ to delivery. Supplier Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with niche vendors, ensuring quality standards and lead times are met. Stock Level & Inventory Planning Precision Planning: Procure based on the project’s production needs. Maintain the balance, ensuring we never halt assembly while avoiding bloated inventory costs. Lead-Time Management: Account for long or unpredictable lead times of specialized parts. ERP Data Management & Readiness Oversee Manufacturing Orders, as defined by the Project Manager, and ensure all required components are accounted for in accordance with production priorities. Audit and update system data so that production schedules accurately reflect material availability and lead times. Identify gaps in the ERP workflow and implement cleaner data practices to streamline operations. Mature Production Cost Data Assist in developing detailed product costing. Competencies and Skills Hybrid Mindset : Proven experience in a mixed role involving procurement, inventory control, and data management (ideally in a custom manufacturing or high-tech environment). ERP : Aptitude for ERP systems with a knack for maintaining data hygiene. Analytical & Detail-Driven : Focused on detail and happy to also complete low- level administrative tasks with high precision. Technical Literacy : Ability to understand technical component descriptions and collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams. Self-Starter : Comfortable working independently in a low-volume environment where you must self-manage your daily loading. Collaboration: Can work across teams to understand and identify potential problems in the readiness for production. Education/ Qualification Requirements 5 years’ relevant experience in a relevant environment Grade 12 Relevant Diploma English Essential Afrikaans (Added Advantage) Location The Procurement Specialist will be based in Dragonfly’s Stellenbosch office outside Cape Town.
