HEAD OF RUGBY RUGBY PROFESSIONAL APPOINTMENT Christian Brothers’ College Boksburg, an Independent Boys’ School, invites suitably qualified and experienced rugby professionals to apply for the position of Head of Rugby – High School. The High School Rugby Department aims to provide a comprehensive rugby experience, balancing participation, individual development, team performance and the values of discipline, respect and sportsmanship. The successful candidate will lead the High School Rugby Programme from U14 to 1st XV level, driving coaching excellence, high-performance standards and the continued growth of rugby at the College. HEAD OF RUGBY – HIGH SCHOOL Role Overview The Head of High School Rugby is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction, performance and development of the rugby programme from U14 through to 1st XV level. This position is central to establishing and maintaining a high-performance rugby environment that reflects the traditions, values and aspirations of CBC Boksburg. The successful candidate will oversee the High School rugby coaching structures, implement a cohesive rugby development philosophy and ensure that players are developed within a structured and competitive environment. The role requires an experienced, passionate and highly organised rugby professional with the leadership ability to manage coaches, develop players and drive a culture of excellence, discipline, accountability and pride in representing the College. Minimum Requirements: Recognised World Rugby coaching qualification (minimum Level 2 or equivalent preferred); Proven experience coaching High School, provincial age-group or equivalent competitive rugby; Provincial or professional playing or coaching experience is advantageous; Strong understanding of high-performance rugby, game strategy, technical development and player conditioning; Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and manage coaching teams; Experience managing fixtures, tours, festivals and rugby operations; Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills; Competence in rugby analysis, performance planning and digital administration; A commitment to player welfare, safeguarding and responsible coaching practices; A commitment to the ethos and values of Christian Brothers’ College Boksburg. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the High School Rugby Programme (U14–1st XV); Develop and implement a comprehensive rugby performance and development strategy; Establish and oversee structured training, match preparation and performance review programmes; Lead, mentor and support the High School rugby coaching staff; Oversee team selections, talent identification and player development pathways; Coordinate fixtures, tours, festivals, rugby camps and departmental administration; Develop and monitor performance standards across all High School teams; Promote a culture of discipline, accountability, resilience and sporting excellence; Strengthen relationships with players, parents, coaches and external rugby stakeholders; Identify opportunities for player progression into provincial, academy and higher-performance rugby pathways; Collaborate with the Prep Rugby Department to support a seamless transition into High School rugby; Drive the continued growth, competitiveness and reputation of CBC Boksburg rugby.
