HEAD OF BASKETBALL Christian Brothers’ College Boksburg, an Independent Boys’ School, invites suitably qualified and experienced basketball professionals to apply for the position of Head of Basketball. CBC Boksburg is committed to a structured and competitive basketball programme that promotes player development, coaching excellence and a strong sporting culture. The successful candidate will lead the programme from U12 to 1st Team level, fostering performance, discipline and pride in representing the College. Role Overview The Head of Basketball will provide strategic leadership and oversee the coaching, development and performance of the College’s basketball programme. The role requires an experienced, passionate and highly organised professional capable of leading coaching teams, implementing a cohesive development pathway and building a competitive environment aligned with CBC Boksburg’s values and traditions. Minimum Requirements: Recognised basketball coaching qualification (Basketball South Africa or equivalent preferred); Proven experience coaching school, provincial age-group or equivalent competitive basketball; Provincial or professional playing or coaching experience is advantageous; Strong understanding of basketball strategy, technical development, performance planning and player conditioning; Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and manage coaching teams; Experience managing fixtures, tournaments, tours, festivals and basketball operations; Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills; Competence in basketball analysis and digital administration; Commitment to player welfare, safeguarding and responsible coaching practices; Commitment to the ethos and values of Christian Brothers’ College Boksburg. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the Basketball Programme from U12 to 1st Team level; Develop and implement a comprehensive basketball performance and development strategy; Oversee structured training, match preparation and performance reviews; Lead, mentor and support the basketball coaching staff; Manage team selections, talent identification and player development pathways; Coordinate fixtures, tournaments, tours, festivals, camps and departmental administration; Monitor coaching quality and performance standards across all teams; Foster a culture of discipline, accountability, resilience and sporting excellence; Build positive relationships with players, parents, coaches and external basketball stakeholders; Identify opportunities for progression into provincial, academy and higher-performance basketball; Collaborate with Prep and High School sport structures to ensure a seamless player development pathway; Drive the growth, participation and competitiveness of CBC Boksburg basketball. Basketball Programme Vision The programme aims to develop well-rounded sportsmen through a progressive pathway that balances participation, individual development and competitive performance, while promoting discipline, teamwork, excellence and pride in representing CBC Boksburg. The Head of Basketball will play a key role in advancing this vision and strengthening the College’s standing in schoolboy basketball. Closing Date: 11 October 2026.
